TEACHERS ARE ARCHITECTS FOR LEARNING What is critical thinking? Critical thinking ---- correct thinking in the pursuit of relevant and reliable knowledge about the world. Reasonable, reflective, responsible, and skillful thinking that is focused on deciding what to believe or do. A person who thinks critically can ask appropriate questions gather relevant information, efficiently and creatively sort through this information, reason logically from this information, and come to reliable and trustworthy conclusions about the world that enable one to live and act successfully in it. higher-order thinking Learning objectives in critical thinking and research (IIME, Global Minimum Essential Requirements, 2002) Demonstrate a critical approach, constructive skepticism, creativity and a research-oriented attitude in professional activities. Understand the power and limitations of the scientific thinking based on information obtained from different sources, in establishing the causation, treatment and prevention of disease.
