跨文化桥梁的搭建：论《红楼梦》节庆民俗词译 王红英 （河南理工大学外国语学院， 河南焦作高新区世纪大道2001号 454003） 　Construct a Cross-cultural Bridge: An Analysis on English Translation of Festivities and Festival-related Terms in Hong Lou Meng Wang Hong Ying (Foreign Study School of Henan Polytechnic University, No.2001, Century Avenue, Jiaozuo City, Henan Province, China 454003 ) 摘要：节庆日以及节庆民俗词汇承载着丰富的民族文化内涵，有着鲜明的民族特色，往往是异族文化所缺失的。《红楼梦》的两个英文全译本：杨霍译本，对大量的节庆日以及节庆民俗词汇进行了翻译，通过比较分析可以得出翻译的确是跨文化传播的桥梁，但是在翻译的过程中，译者的翻译目的和原则，以及译者对源语文化的认知，都会对翻译策略和翻译手法的选择有很大的影响。如果要将那些有着独特民族文化完美地传译过去，而不出现文化流失现象，是几近不可能的，所以只有在不可能中寻求可能，在不完美中寻求完美，搭建文化传播的桥梁。 Abstract: Festivities and festival-related terms, with a label of unique national feature, are a vehicle carrying rich connotations of national culture, which do not exist in foreign cultures. Two English versions of Hong Lou Meng, one translated by Yang Xian Yi and Gladys Yang, while the other translated by David Hawks, are chosen to analyzing the translating strategies used by the two translators when they deal with festivities as well as festival-related terms by comparing the sentences and terms relevant to festivities. It draws a conclusion that translation bears the function of a bridge which links two different cultures. However the choice of translating methods and strategies is under great influence of translating principles, translating goals and insight into original culture of translators.
