Show slide The more thoroughly you prepare, the better success you will have in conducting the Job instruction. Select job to be trained: Be sure to know exactly what job the team member is going to be trained to perform. Do this well before the training. This helps to get organized and to have exactly what you need for the training. Some of the key reminders when deciding what job to train the team member on are as follows: Avoid putting new team members on operations with a safety compliance requirement. Avoid putting new team members on operations that will be covered up in the process. Don’t always put a new person on the easy job. Look for “monument” jobs. A monument job is one that if performed wrong will stand out and can be easily noticed that something is not correct. Ideally, the initial training should be done off-line if possible. Review job / process documentation: The trainer should make sure that certain documentation etc. should be present and filled out at the workplace. This documentation can include the following; Standardized Work (Standard Operating Sheets, Job Element Sheets), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) documentation, Evacuation Take Shelter Routes / areas, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), Product Quality Standards, Job Rotation log, Quality Check Sheet / documentation (e.g. 1Takt checks, gage checks, etc.), Product Maintenance Partnership (PMP) log, Customer / Supplier Identification (for the Team Member). By using the Layered Audit process the trainer can ensure all workstation materials are up to date, correct and properly located to support effective training during Job Instruction. Perform workstation audit: It is important that workstation audits are in place to ensure all workstation materials and tools are up to date and properly located to support effective training during job instruction.
