The industrial camera is installed to the robot ，and then the robot is applied to the workpiece sorting task. The key vision technology of the production line robot is studied. The main methods for image smoothing and sharpening ，and the main methods for workpiece feature extrac⁃ tion （such as multi ⁃target blocking processing ，edge detection ，geometric center calculation ，long axis and short axis calcula⁃ tion ）are described. An instance verification shows that the studied production line sorting robot based on machine vision has good practical application value.
