His family raises yaks (牦牛) and plants wheat. Although he has seen much of the world outside his hometown on TV, he had never left Tibet before.As one of the 10 first prize winners in the first round of the national quiz on the ancient Chinese navigator (航海家) Zheng He, he attended the award ceremony (颁奖典礼) in Beijing a week ago. The contest was organized by the State Oceanic Administration and the Ministry of Education. Organizers hope to raise students awareness of Zheng He and his voyage in 1421 during the Ming Dynasty.It was his curiosity about Zhengs adventure that pushed Suolangduojie to use most of his spare time to research the explorer. Because its not easy to use computers and the Internet in his school, Suolangdujies success is much more impressive than that of other students, said an official from the administration.As for Suolangduojie, taking part in the quiz and the long trip from his home to Beijing were his own adventure. Ive learnt so much more in the past weeks. And I can feel how Zheng He may have felt about his journey, he said.The boy is very confident that he can go on and win the final quiz and join in the final summer camp.
