American Literature The American Modernism (IV) (1914 - 1945) 2. Ernest Hemingway (1899 - 1961) I. Biography: Born in Oak Park, Illinois, the son of a country doctor, Hemingway worked as a reporter for the Kansas City Star after graduating from high school in 1917.
