Rules of Translating Dish Names (2) Rule No. 2: The translation should avoid misunderstanding in English. e.g. 饺子、包子、云吞、汤圆 … … =dumpling? / = ravioli? Dumpling: A small ball of dough cooked with stew or soup. Sweetened dough wrapped around fruit, such as an apple, baked and served as a dessert. Ravioli: A small casing of pasta with various fillings, such as chopped meat or cheese.
