Recent evidences indicate that CRP also plays a dual role in development of cardiovascular diseases(CVD) that are associated with inflammation. It is a predictor of CVD and also a participant which become the hotpot in fields of research gradually. However, the underlying mechanisms by which CRP functions in the pathophysiologic process remain elusive and the results are conflicting concerning the role of CRP. In this review we discuss the properties of CRP in epidemiological investigation, invitro effects, animal models and immunohistochemistry. It can be concluded that many of the apparently contradictory actions of CRP may be attributed to different methods applied as many researchers argue, but, as we conclude here, are more likely to be due to the
