ABSTRACT: In order to reveal the damage in icing processes
and potential danger to insulator at low atmospheric pressure,
using icicle to ice-covered plane model and measured by means –
of ultraviolet imaging instrument, data acquisition card and
authors designed sensors, the corona discharge characteristics
of icicle to ice-covered plane model was researched in artificial 0
climate chamber at low atmospheric pressure. The influence of
atmospheric pressure on corona inception voltage, mean
discharge amplitude and discharge area in icicle to ice-covered
plane model was analyzed. The results indicate that the corona
