The Application of Optical Fiber in Electric Power Communication Abstract: As communication sciences continues to develop, there is an increasing demand for information communication in all aspects of life, requiring for the application of new technology and the improvement of Internet service quality. Optical Fiber Communication (OFC) has advantages of Long-distance transmission and strong anti-interference ability, thus, improving the quality of electric power communication. OFC utilizes modulated light to transmit information. Because of its excellent transmutability and high security of information transmission, it is becoming increasingly significant in transmitting information. Power system communication network is the basis of OFC. It bears the main telecom business of voice, data, and IP. After decades of construction, the power line network has been spread all over the country. Electric power system is built to achieve cross-regional and long-distance power transmission so as to meet the demand of urban and rural citizens in production and living. To a certain extent, the transmission line is the most extensive network infrastructure in China. Cable ducts that distributed in major cities are excellent resources for the construction of fiber-optic access network 2.
