Yue Solving the volumetric expansion problem of BOF slag is vital for slag recycling and reuse. To stabilize the volume of BOF slag, 5 commercialized strategies for slag treatment were tried and evaluated. Among them, hot stage slag modification t echniqu e was th ou ght t o b e th e m ost effective way for 26 volumetric stabilization of BOF slag. Prior to establishing the HBMs (hot stage BOF slag modification station) in CSC, 26 preliminary experiments were carried out at the de-sulfurization station in the factory. Based on the trials, it was found that the volumetric expansion of the BOF slag was inhibited after 2012 6 applying the slag modification procedure without doing slag 60 splashing procedure. To save the cost of importing hot stage BOF slag modification setup, we devote efforts to build our 27% own HBMs equipment. Through collaborating with different divisions in CSC, the HBMs with largest capacity (600 k tons annually) in the world was set up in June, 20 12. Initially, the successful rate of the BOF slag modification was only 27%.
