Finally, I would like particularly to give my special thanks to my family, whose warmest love has enabled me to complete this work. i Abstract Traditional translation studies tend to focus on study of translation techniques so as to improve translation quality. However, translation scholars have gradually realized that translation is no longer a static transference at linguistic level, but a dynamic communication at cultural level and it is conducted under the influence of ideology and poetics. Judging from translation history at home and abroad, we can see that translators living in the same period even have different opinions toward translation, let alone those living in different times. Their choices of the text to be translated and of the translation strategies indicate that translation is a cultural activity. The choices tr
