Basic feat res of the method are non- linear static analysis ( i. e., p sh- over analysis) , transformation between m lt-i degree of freedom system (M DOF) and single-de- gree of freedom system(SDOF) , and seismic demand c rve in the form of acceleration-displacement spectr m. T he relationship between M DOF and SDOF is established by mode analysis and the seismic demand c rve according to the response spectr m given in the c rrent Seismic Design Codef or Buildings. Seismic performance of 10-story main b ilding of Tsingh a University is eval ated by the developed capacity spectr m method. T he res lts, s ch as the top displacement, the story drift and the plastic hinge distrib tion nder the minor earthq ake and the rare earthq ake are verified by non-linear time history analysis.
