The distribution of five Rhodotorula spp., including R. graminis, R. marina, R. minuta, R. mucilaginosa, and R. slooffiae, are reported. R. mucilaginosa and R. minuta were wildly distributed. The other three species were newly recorded in Taiwan. The sequences of internal transcribed spacer of ribosomal DNA (ITS of rDNA) and D1/D2 region of 26S rDNA were analyzed. The sequences of ITS region were more variable than D1/D2 region among those species. The phylogenetic trees were constructed with rDNA ITS and D1/D2 region DNA sequences, respectively. There were two major clades, Erythrobasidium and Sporidiobolus , presented in both trees. Rhodotorula minuta , Rhodotorula slooffiae and Rhodotorula marina were presented in Erythrobasidium clade.
