* Due to the majority of the heat transferred by a UFH system being Radiant Heat, the air temperatures may be set to lower levels, whilst comfort levels remain the same as Convection systems. Due to the lower Convection output of a UFH system, Convection currents are greatly reduced. This lowers level of dust and other airborne pollutants and is ideal for asthma sufferers and for hospitals and hospices. Warm feet, cool head is the ideal temperature profile for our bodies to be in. No obtrusive radiators Even spread of heat across the whole floor area * This slide shows the breakdown in % of the way heat is lost from the human body, with Radiant heat loss being the greatest. * This slide shows the ideal temperature profile, the profile of a radiator system and an UFH system. The top graph shows the ideal temperature profile for our bodies to be in. Feet warmer that the head. The bottom left graph shows the temp’ profile of a room with radiators which is the reverse of the ideal graph. The bottom right graph shows the temp’ profile of a room with UFH, which much more closely mirrors the ideal temp’ profile. * Room Thermostats may be set 1°C to 2°C lower than Radiator systems with UFH due to the effective heat distribution, yet the same comfort levels will be achieved. This can give energy savings of up 15%. Condensing boilers will only operate in condensing mode, when there is a large temp’ difference between the boiler flow return. Radiator systems generally operate with a delta T of 11°C (82°C flow, 71°C return) which is not a large enough delta T, to enable the boiler flue gases to pre-heat the return water, as the return water will be at a higher temp’ than the flue gases. With UFH the boiler temp’ flow is blended down to approximately 50°C, a UFH system has a delta T of between 10°C 20°C, therefore the boiler return water will be between 30°C 40°C. This gives a delta T across the boiler F R of between 52°C 42°C, which will enable the boiler to condensate
