Reeves3 and Henning Schulzrinne 4 Abstract The dramatically increased bandwidths and pro cessing capabilities of future high-sp eed net- works make p ossible many distributed real-time applications, such as sensor-based applications and multimedia services. Since these applications will have trac characteristics and p erformance requirements that dier dramatically from those of current data-oriented applications, new com- munication network architectures and proto cols will b e required.
