Resistance (R) proteins are classified according to their domain organization. The two main classes of R proteins are the nucleotide binding leucine-rich repeat (NB-LRR) and the extracellular LRR (eLRR) resistance proteins. The NB-LRR class is the most abundant, and members can possess amino-terminal coiled-coil (CC) or Toll-interleukin-1 receptor (TIR) domains.
