Second Artillery Non-Commissioned Officer School, Weifang 262500, China) AbstractProduct design shows the trend of high speed, modularization, knowledge coverage and characteristics of parametric and repeatability. In order to respond to these changes, concept of knowledge embedding is presented, and design process model is constructed to support the transfer of processes, tasks and parameters. Based on workflow process definition meta-model, an improved design process definition meta-model is established with introduction of knowledge-flow engine and knowledge unit model, and the corresponding knowledge embedding control mechanism is founded. A prototype implementation of design process management verifies that this method can effectively manage product design process, and realize knowledge embedding in phases of task execution.
