By meansof the comparison of the seism ic actions defined in the current hinese odewith those defined in the General Rule for Performance-based Seism ic Design of Buildings, and the AIS Seism ic Provisions, it is proposed to classify the steel structural system s into four categories by their energy-dissipating capacity, followed by introducing an adjustment coefficient of structural system, the value of which is also suggested foreach category.
