My heart is like a singing bird. 2. Foot (音步): the unit of rhythm in English poetry. A foot contains two or three syllables, one of which is stressed. There are four main types of foot in English poetry: iambus(抑扬格), trochee(扬抑格), anapaest(抑抑扬格), dactyl(扬抑抑格) 1) Iambus (抑扬格): one unaccented + one accented syllable (iambic) appear besides attack supply 2) Trochee (扬抑格): one accented + one unaccented syllable (trochaic) holy upper grandeur failing 3) Anapaest (抑抑扬格): two unaccented syllables + one accented (anapaestic) reappear indistinct incomplete on the hill 4) Dactyl (扬抑抑格): one accented + two unaccented syllable (dactylic) messenger merrily property 5) Spondee (扬扬格) (spondaic), paeonic (四音节的韵脚) 3. Meter (音步): measure or patterned count of a poetic line, determined by the kind of foot used and the number of feet in the line (Chaucer) 1) 1 foot – monometer/ 2 feet – dimeter 3 feet – trimeter / 4 feet – tetrameter 5 feet – pentameter / 6 feet – hexameter 7 feet – heptameter / 8 feet – octameter 2) The name of meters:
