On the Translation of English Humorous Speech from the
Perspective of Relevance Theory

Abstract :Humorous speech can not only make people laugh out of funny but also realize communi-
cation． However ，in the process of intercultural communication ，translators are facing the obstacle re-
sulted from the differences between different peoples and cultures ，which make it difficult for them to
fulfill the task of translating humorous speech． The author intends to discuss the mechanism of hu-
morous speech and its translation strategies from the perspective of Relevance Theory to realize suc-
cessful transfer tand communication．
