The system can not only improve the power factor and reduce harmonic, but also Boost chopper in the DC main circuit can be removed, so the structure is simpler than the inner feedback chopper cascade adjustable speed system. In this paper, the main circuit and principle of rotor-side variable frequency drive system based on PWM converter are introduced firstly. At the same time, the advantages of the scheme applied in fan or pump are put forward. Secondly, the switch mode and equivalent characteristic of the system are discussed deeply. Then the control strategy of this scheme is analyzed and the control framework is given. Finally, the simulation and experiment result show the feasibility of the technology.
