The science fully demands a prudent response.” - Secretary of Energy, Ernest Moniz Changes in the global climate system are unmistakable, as is now evident from observations of increased global average air and ocean temperatures, decreased historical snow pack, rising global average sea level, and more frequent severe weather events.1 The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) recognizes that changes in the global climate system could have a profound impact on the Department’s mission activities. DOE is committed to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and mitigating climate change by developing clean energy and energy efficiency technologies for commercial deployment while providing leadership through its own sustainable operations.
