Computer-assisted language learning (CALL) CAI (computer-assisted instruction): the use of a computer in a teaching program, aims at seeing educational problems on the part of the teacher CAL (computer-assisted learning): emphasizes the use of a computer in both teaching and learning in order to achieve educational objectives through their own reasoning and practice, a reflection of newly advocated autonomous learning CAL or CAL deals with teaching and learning in general, CALL in particular CALL (computer-assisted language learning) refers to the use of a computer in the teaching or learning of a second or foreign language. Machine translation Machine translation (MT) refers to the use of machine (usually computers) to translate texts from one natural language to another. It is a chief concern in computational linguistics. All current commercial and operational systems produce output which must be edited or revised if it is to be of publishable quality. MT works best in domain-specific and controlled environments. There are still faults in all present actual MT produced. The Internet is having further profound impacts that will surely change the future prospects for MT. MT and human translation can and will co-exist in relative harmony. Th
