Eighty years ago the summer (1921), a young surgeon Banting (Frederick Banting, 1891-1941) and an assistant to Best just out of school (Charles Best 1899-1978) in Toronto, a professor of physiology at the University of Macleod (John Macleod, 1876-1935) Research laboratory.
