Lab. Safety rules
Undergraduate students are not allowed to work in a lab without supervision of qualified personnel ( such as academic staff, research fellow, research assistant, graduate student and technical officer).
Must wear lab coat (provided)
No sandals, open toed shoes, shorts or skirts, tie long hair, keep loose clothing in locker
Keep unnecessary personal belongs in the lockers provided at the entrance before entering the lab.
No smoking, eating drinking.
Do not run or fool in lab.
Follow instructions(lab manual or from demonstration). The manual must be read and understood before the start of any experiment.
Do not take away or bring any materials from or to the lab without permission.
Do not touch anything which is not part of you experiment.
High risk experiment in progress must not be left unattended.
Unused equipment/bags MUST NOT be left on the bench.
Wash glassware return to storage place after use.
All reagent chemicals must be returned to the appropriate storage places after use.
Mop up water spillage on floor.
Do not mix chemical unless being instructed.
Keep lab clean and tidy.
Keep all exit corridors clear.
Know proper way to use every piece of glassware equipment. ASK!
Never use broken glassware
Work with CHEMICAL is potentially dangerous
Never pipette chemicals by mouth.
Work with toxic or foul smelling chemical outside the fume hoods. Work in the correct type of fume hoods. Suitable protective equipment, such as goggles, mouth mask, face shield and proper gloves should be worn when dealing with
