This paper suggests an inward look to reconstruct a new Taiwan image for international education. It addresses that multicultural education is not only rooted in local contexts but also intertwined with global contexts. This paper has two purposes: first, it aims to critically examine Taiwan s image within the international relations ’ by studying the factors of marginalization, the others, and stigmatization; second, it attempts to explore the possibility of a reconstruction of the new Taiwan image by referring to the academic approach of Taiwan s studies. ’ Finally, it reviews the image of Taiwan in the eyes of the others and the image of the others in Taiwan s eyes: Taiwan as a multicultural society ’ of speech freedom and high technology, and Taiwan as a country of negative in terms of culture aspect.
