This work is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution International License (CC BY). /licenses/by/4.0/ Open Access Abstract The Mannich reaction of aromatic aldehydes, aromatic ketones with aromatic amines has re- markable difference in synthetic method compared with that of Mannich reaction of formaldehyde. Some Mannich bases exhibit specific biological activity, such as antidiabetic, antimicrobial, anti- tumor, and anti-tuberculosis activity. This paper primarily summarizes the development history of this kind of Mannich reaction and further introduces their biological activities mainly discov- ered by our lab, and hope to provide hint for future investigation of this Mannich reaction.
