A b stract In drinking w ater trea tm en t, chem ica l clean ing of fouled Po lye thersulfone ( PE S) m em brane w ith f iv e
different m odes w as investigated by pe rm ea te flux recovery, irreve rs ible fou ling resistance and scanning electron
m icroscopy ( SEM ) . R esults show ed th at ind iv idua l agents includ ing N aOH, C itr ic acid and N aC lO cou ld not ach ieve a
sa tisfy ing clean ing eff ic iency. O n the o ther hand, comb ined c lean ing agent w ith 10 g / L N aOH and 02 g /L N aC lO could
recove r 9324% o f p erm eate flux,
