And the author uses the philosophy of Arthur Schopenhauer to interpret the novel and rediscover the theme and Faulknerrsquo;s writing purpose of this novel. This paperrsquo;s rationality is based on the similar thoughts shared by the two people. It is proved that the philosophy of Schopenhauer exists in Light in August after the author has analyzed the main characters and some plots of it. Through the analysis of this novel by Schopenhauerrsquo;s philosophy, the author has found that the theme of the Light in August is to tell the people, the will is the subject of the world and people are the object.
