Conversion of engine compression ratio
The compression ratio is the ratio of the total volume of the cylinder to the volume of the combustion chamber. The magnitude of the compression ratio indicates the extent to which the gas in the cylinder is compressed when the piston moves from the lower dead point to the tdc. The greater the compression ratio, the higher the pressure and temperature of the gas in the cylinder at the end of compression.
The general range of compression ratio is: the compression ratio of gasoline engine is epsilon =7-11; the compression ratio of diesel engine is epsilon =14-22.
Because of the physical and chemical characteristics of gasoline and diesel, the ignition point of gasoline is higher than that of diesel, and the evaporation of diesel is much worse than that of gasoline.
