It has a high frequency of occurrence in sentences. It plays an important role in correctly understanding the meaning of sentences. Attributive clauses are divided into restrictive attributive clauses and non restrictive attributive clauses. An attributive clause is usually followed by the noun it modifies, so if a clause is followed by a noun or pronoun, it is determined whether it is an attributive clause according to its logical relation to the preceding noun or pronoun. A noun or pronoun that is modified by an attributive clause is called antecedent. The words that guide the attributive clause are called relative words. Relative words have two functions: I. guiding attributive clauses. Two, instead of antecedent, act as a certain sentence element in its attributive clause. Understand and keep in mind these two concepts, and find out what constitutes the attributive clause in the attributive clause, is the key to master the attributive clause. The choice and judgement of relative words In the previous section, we mentioned that the correct choice of relative words is the key to mastering attributive clauses. The choice of relative words depends entirely on what elements the antecedent plays in the attributive clause. There are nine words in relation.
