Chapter one, inquiry in science and inquiry in science class
Scientific inquiry refers to a variety of different ways that scientists use to study nature and the evidence based on such studies. Scientific inquiry also refers to the activities that students use to acquire knowledge, comprehend scientific ideas, and understand the methods scientists use in the study of nature. (the national science education standards P25/P30? ) as the national science education standards (National Research Council released in 1996) pointed out that although the students are using inquiry learning scientific knowledge, and scientists are trying to promote the human understanding of the nature of the activities, and the thinking process of students and scientists are engaged in many of the same where, of course, tries to inquiry into the classroom educators, scientists engaged in the activities and thinking process is not always very familiar. This book reveals all aspects of inquiry in science education through a survey of inquiry in science and the exploration of science. With examples and discussions, the book also shows how teachers and students learn to do science through inquiry, and thus understand the nature of science and the learning of scientific knowledge. To explore this question, we begin by comparing the research of a scientist with the inquiry activity in the science classroom.
