M ethods: Forty patients w ith migraine and 30 cont rols were chosen and psy chological assessments w ere performed in migraineurs and controls. The levels of plasma 5HT w ere determined. A correlation analysis betw een psychological assessments and the level of plasma 5HT w as made. Results: As com pared w ith the control group, the total scores, mean scores of positive f actor, some factor scores ( somatization, de pression, anxiety and panic disorder) of SCL90 and the standard scores of SAS and SDS w ere signif icantly increased in migraine group ( P 0.01) . The level of plasma 5HT in patients w ith migraine was significantly higher than that in controls ( P 0. 01) . The increase of plasma serotonin w as correlated positively w ith the incidence of ment al dis orders ( R= 0. 271- 0.458) in migraineurs. Conclusion: T here w ere mental disorders and the increase in the level of plasma serot onin, and the mental disorders w ere correlated w ith level of plasma serotonin in migraineurs.
