SCHOOLS OF AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY I. AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY III 3/2010 This course will begin with an advanced review of material covered in Automotive Technology II and I and help improve the work habits and learning skills of the students. Automotive Technology III will prepare the students with employable skills by training them in the following ASE areas: A-4 ASE Steering and Suspension. This section will take the students from the basics of component identification all the way to perform a computerized four-wheel alignment. The next ASE area of instruction is A-6 Electrical/Electronics. Phase I will be taught this year and Phase II in Level IV. The students will learn electrical theory along with battery, starting system and charging system maintenance, testing and repair. Automotive Technology III curriculum will enable the students to have a smooth transition from school to the AYES summer internship in industry. Passaic County Technical Institute’s automotive program is a National Automotive Technicians Educational Foundation (NATEF) Certified program, which offers students instruction in the four basic areas of automotive technology. This program provides students with industry-based standards in Engine Performance, Brakes, Electrical/Electronics as well as in Steering and Suspension. The task-based curriculum teaches industry standards so that the student can have a smooth transition to the work environment. Students enter this in the first year by applying both to our School of Automotive Technology. This exploratory year enables students to participate in our NATEF certified Auto Collision Repair and our Automotive Technology Program.
