The ceria nanosp heres had a coreshell structure constructed by nanop articles and nanosheet s t hat predominantly exposed t he {111} planes. Urea hydrolysis pro duced CO2 - and OH - sp ecies as precipitation agent and simultaneously produced ammonia bubbles t hat acted as a structuredirecting 3 agent for t he formation of t he CeO2 nanosp heres. The redox prop erties and catalytic activit y of t he CeO2 nanosp heres were examined by hydrogen temp eratureprogrammed reduction and CO oxidation , resp ectively .
