To explore the change characteristic ofcognitive functioning of normal elderly in community. 3. To investigate the incidenceof mild cognitive impairment in 60-year-old elder people in Guangzhou city.Methods: This study was conducted among residents aged 60 years and over in theurban selected by cluster sampling from Guangzhou. The each one was interviewedwith the Mini-Mental state examination (MMSE), the Chinese Version of theMontreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA-China), World Health Organization -batteryof cognitive assessment instrument for elderly (WHO-BCAI), Activities of DailyLiving Scale (ADL) , the Clinical Dementia Rating scale (CDR) and the GlobalDeterioration Scale (GDS). The MCI diagnosis was according to Petersen diagnosticstandard and the diagnosis for dementia was based on Diagnostic and StatisticalManual of Mental Disorders-IV( DSM—IV). Follow-up examination was conductedin baseline elderly with the same cognitive tests after one year.Results: 1. In baseline survey, the total of 341 among 660 subjects were interviewed,the rate of dropout was 48.3%. Of all the subjects, 225(66.0%) were normal,45(13.2%) were successful aging. A total of 42（12.3%）cases of MCI were identified,including AMCI 34 cases (10.0%),VMCI 7 cases(2.1%). There were 12 dementias（3.5%）, including AD5 cases (1.5%), VD5 persons (1.5%).2. Cognitive function in elderly: According to the cognitive function, all elders weredivided into dementia group, mild cognitive impairment group, normal elderly groupand the success aging group.
