Abstract: Transfection is defined as the delivery of functional nucleic acids into living cells, maintaining the
biological function of the nucleic acids. As an important technique in biochemistry and molecular biology,
transfection is meaningful for its potential applications in gene therapy. Inorganic nanoparticles can be used as
gene delivery vectors and have received extensive interest due to their various advantages, such as easy
preparation and surface-functionalization. This paper reviewed the current researches about inorganic
nanoparticles as gene delivery vectors. Their influence on the gene expression was also discussed.
