Abstract Asanimportantissueofcloudstoragesecurity，dataintegritycheckinghasattractedalot
ofattentionfrom academiaandindustry．Inordertoverifydataintegrityinthecloud，theresearchers
haveproposedmanypublicauditschemesfordataintegrity．However，mostoftheexistingschemes
areinefficientandwastemuchcomputingresourcebecausetheyadoptfixedparametersforauditingall
thefiles．Inotherwords，theyhavenotconsidered theissueofcoordinatingandauditingthelarge—
scalefiles．Inordertoimprovetheauditefficiencyofthesystem ，weproposeaself—adaptiveprovable
datapossession (SA—PDP)，whichusesaself-adaptivealgorithm toadjusttheaudittasksfordifferent
filesandmanagethetasksbytheauditqueues．Bythequantitativeanalysisoftheauditrequirements
offiles，itcandynamicallyadjusttheauditplans，whichguaranteesthedynamicmatchingbetweenthe
auditrequirementsoffilesandtheexecutionstrengthofauditplans．Inordertoenhancetheflexibility
ofupdatingauditplans，SA—PDPdesignstwodifferentupdatealgorithmsofauditplansonthebasisof
differentinitiators．Theactiveupdatealgorithm ensuresthattheauditsystem hashigh coveragerate
whilethelazyupdatealgorithm canmaketheauditsystem timelymeettheauditrequirementsoffiles．
Experimentalresultsshow thatSA—PDP can reducemorethan 5O ofthetotalaudittimethanthe
traditionalmethod．AndSA～PDP effectivelyincreasesthenumberofauditfilesintheauditsystem．
