高考英语---名词与冠词(NMET --- nouns and articles) Nouns and articles English nouns are classified into two categories: proper nouns and common nouns. A proper noun is a proprietary name, such as an individual, a group, a place, an institution, or a thing, whose first letter must be capitalized. Such as: Einstein, Beijing, Asia and so on. A common noun is the name of the person, a class of things, a matter of abstract concepts, can be divided into individual nouns (countable, such as: worker, father, book, tree, school etc.); collective nouns (countable, such as: people, family, class, team); the name of the material (uncountable, such as: iron, paper, snow, water, chalk, gold); abstract noun (uncountable, such as: life, thought, idea, strength etc.). In accordance with the exam outline requirement, the high school stage we should grasp the following contents: distinguish the countability of nouns and uncountable; countable nouns have plurals, some nouns are used only in the plural; material nouns and abstract nouns uncountable but can be quantified using the language of nouns; all lattice and of lattice; attributive noun directly; the correct use of national nouns; distinguish between nouns meaning and collocation; collocation unit nouns; noun modifiers so, as, quite etc.. The countable and non countable of nouns are one of the focuses of the proposition of college entrance examination. Uncountable nouns cannot be used with indefinite articles and cannot be followed by -s. Some abstract nouns have plural forms, but the meanings are different from those of the original.
