(A STUDENT OF AFRICAN WILDLIFE PART 1)
Introduction
In this period, after the warming up, students will first be guided to imagine and share their views about the great people. They will then be helped to read a narration entitled A STUDENT OF AFRICAN WILDLIFE. It’s about Jane Goodall.
Examples of “Warming Up” designs are presented in this book for teachers’ reference. Computer and overhead projector may be used to aid the teaching and learning.
Objectives
To help students read a story of great people.
To help students better understand “A STUDENT OF AFRICAN WILDLIFE”.
To help students understand and use some important words and expressions
To help students identify examples of the subject-predicate agreement.
Focus
Words behave, shade, worthwhile, bond, behavior, observe, childhood, outspoken, respect, argue, inspire Expressions move off, argue that, look down/upon, refer to, intend to do Aids
Multimedia facilities, tape-recorder, photos, diagrams
Procedure
1. Warming up
(1) Warming up by discussing
Good morning, class. What qualities do you think a great woman needs? (Give some words to describe)
(2) Warming up by guess
Now boys and girls, I will describe three women to you, please guess who they are according to my description.

The annual International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world on her birthday.
She was given the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1911.
She is the only woman scientist who was awarded Nobel Prize for two times. In 1915, She married Dr Sun Yat-sen, founder of the Republic of China. She was made an honorary vice-president of the People’s Republic. She busied herself with various welfare activities, ranging from heading the Women’s Federation to a number of committees involving children.
