ÆÆ ÆÆ ℄ Æ Æ iii ABSTRACT In recent years, the fruitful theoretical and extensive practical applications in controller design and stability analysis for lower-triangle nonlinear systems have been achieved. This paper stduies the problem of feedback control for two classes of lower-triangle nonlinear systems on the basis of predecessors, and corresponding feedback control approaches are presented. The main contributions include: 1. The second chapter investigates a class of stochastic lower-triangle nonlinear systems with arbitrary switching, and discusss the stabilization problem. Based on the simultane- ous domination approach, the common Lyapunov function method and the backstepping technique, a state feedback controller and an output feedback controller are designed, re- spectively. The closed-loop systems are proved to be globally asymptotically stable in probability. The main advantage of the proposed control schemes is that the controllers are independent of switching signal. Two simulation examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the control strategies proposed in this paper. 2. The third chapter addresses the stabilization problem by state feedback for a class of lower-triangle nonlinear time-delay systems with a ratio of odd integers. The main difficulty is how to deal with both uncontrollable linearizable and nonsmooth system functions, which, under some appropriate assumptions, can be solved by using the adding- a-power-integrator technique, and a state feedback controller is designed.
