The m orpho logy o f the ox idat ion and ox ide- rich layer o f TC4 w as analyzed by OM and SEM . T he resu lts ind icated that the ox idation layerw e ight ad- d it ion per un it surface area of TC4 show ed a nearly linear relat ion to exposed heat ing tim e. Ox idation sk in of T C4 form ed by ox idation at sing le A ph ase range o f low er temp erature 850 e w as comp letely d ifferent th at at 950, 1 000 e and 1 050 e . T he m ean thickness o f in ternal ox idation layer w as found strong ly de- p end ing on oxygen diffu sion rate at certain heating tem perature and independent of heating tim e.
