Presentation Title 2、Chinese idiom translation of image processing（汉语成语英译的形象处理） Thanks to the difference of thinking mode and culture background between Chinese and English people, a sanme image may carry quite different meanings. Gernerally speaking, there are many methods to deal with the images of Chinese idioms. （1）Reserving the original images（保留形象） There are many idioms in English that have the same meaning as it in Chinese. When we translate them, we can use the image in English to represent it. 1、火上浇油 Add fuel to the fire. 2、空中楼阁 Castles in the air。 3、以眼还眼以牙还牙 An eye for an eye， a tooth for a tooth 4、易如反掌 As easy as turning one’s hand （2）Transplanting images（移植形象） There may be no English corresponding images for some images of Chinese idioms. So, we can transplant Chinese images into English. 三个臭皮匠赛过诸葛亮 Three cobblers with their wits combined equal Zhuge Liang, the master mind. 班门弄斧 To show off one’s skill with the axe before Luban. （3）Transforming images（转换形象） If we can not find English corresponding images when we are translating Chinese idioms, we can use some familiar English images to transform them. 杀鸡取卵 Kill the goose that lays golden eggs 想热锅上的蚂蚁 Like a hen on a hot girdle 血流如注 Bleed like a pig （4）Abandoning images（舍弃形象） If we can not find English corresponding images when we are translating Chinese idioms, we can abandon the images of Chinese, and choose some concise and vivid images to represent them. 粗枝大叶 （汉译： with big branches and large leaves） Be crude and careles 牵肠挂肚 Feel deeply worried 江河日下.
