Let’s Read Text B Let’s Read   American music includes classical music and popular music. American country music is also called country and western music, which belongs to popular music. It descends from early traditional styles developed in the nations of Scotland, Ireland and England. It is also influenced by western music and rock music.   Country music is played on a few musical instruments, such as the guitar, drum and violin. It is easy for country singers to carry a guitar when they are traveling. However, a lot of electrical equipment is needed for large theatres.   In the 1950s, American music was about other things, for example, love and money. Then, in the 1960s, song writers turned to other subjects. During these years, many young students were angry with society. Thus, songs were often full of anger. Political leaders were not well thought of and these songs often made fun of them. Let’s Read    During the 1990s, American country music became more and more popular. Song writers are no longer writing about modern values held by people from the USA, such as money, success or fame. Instead, they are writing once more about things that are common to everyone, for example, feeling alone and having good friends.   Nowadays, American country music has reached all parts of the States, from Los Angeles in the west to New York in the east. It is one of the most popular kinds of music in the States because it is about simple but strong human feelings and events, such as love, sadness, good times and bad times.   American country singers now do not just come from the States but from all over the world.   There are many famous singers from Britain, Canada and Australia.
