RESEARCH ON THE URBAN REORGANIZATION WITH THE MEGASTRUCTURE THEORY Abstract : At the moment, China is experiencing the massive urbanization trends. Rational urban development aims to realize the integrated and organic reorganization of the old urban areas structure and function. Generated in a period with the same severe urban problems, the Megastructure theory has a profound ideological value. The thesis thinks critically of the Megastructure theory, and proposes a high degree of mobility and three- dimensional urban reorganization, which contributes to the intensive, multi-functional and effi cient urban space. Take the Central Hong Kong as a case study, the thesis explores the emerged trend of Megastructural feature in its urban reorganization process. It provides evidence for the value of Megastructure theory to the urban reorganization. In the meantime, the thesis extends the urban reorganization from the Megastructure to the networking trends.
