CONCEPT AND PRAC TICE OF SUSTAINABLE URBAN DEVELOPMENT IN GERMANY: MUNICH RIEM EXHIBITION CITY Abstract : Munich Riem Exhibition City is one of the largest and most recognizable projects of German sustainable urban development. This dissertation analyzes the planning and construction concept and technical measures of the project, including such multiple facets as land use planning, landscape and open space, energy, traffic, water resources and disposal of rubbish and participation by citizens. On top of that, it summarizes the revelation and lessons for China that could be drawn from the experience of German sustainable urban development.
