The results show that the stable carbide hard phases are generated through in-s i tu reac- tion betw een ferrotitanium, ferrovanadium, ferrochromium and graphite. T he multiple TiC-V C pres- ented graininess or efflorescent and intermittent Cr7 C3 emerged reticulation evenly disperse in the coat- ing, w hich largely increase the micro-hardness and w ear resistance of the coating . T he micro-hardness of the coatings increases w ith increasing ferrochromium content. T he coating, w hich contented 2% ( mass fraction) ferrochromium, holds compact microstructure and excellent w ear resistance. U nder the same condition, its mass loss is only one seventh of that of the substrate. How ever, w hen the fer-
