From the point of view of different periods, w e see that during the 10 years from 1 4 to 2004, the extension of sandy land is fast. Since 2004, the trend of extension of sandy land had reduced, the extension speed slow ed dow n, and annual extension rate droped from 6% 10 years ago to 0. 6% at present. A nalysis on meteorological data and social statistical data indicates that the persistent progress of sandy land tightly linked w ith rise of temperature, decrease of precipitation, growth of population and the rapid increment of amount of livestock over the last 30 years in this region.
