California State polytechnic University Pomona Contractor Safety HANDBOOK (01/26/2006) Introduction California State Polytechnic University Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) recognizes that many hazards are inherent in construction and other contract work. Compliance with safety regulations can prevent most serious injuries. This guide will serve as notification of campus safety requirements to contractors, including subcontractors, who perform work at Cal Poly Pomona and any other facilities operated by the University. It should not be assumed that this guide covers all applicable safety and health laws. While onsite, contractors are required to follow applicable federal, state and local safety and health regulations, as well as, Cal Poly Pomona Policies. The contractor is responsible and accountable for the safety of their employees. However, the university reserves the right to require the contractor to discontinue operation at any time it determines that the contractor’s actions are exposing non-contractor individuals to an unsafe situation or environmental requirements/regulations are NOT being met. Emergency Information Contractors must abide by all alarms and evacuation procedures as established by CAL POLY POMONA. Any alarm triggered by the contractor must be reported immediately and a representative must be available to address the incident. In the event of an emergency, the contractor should report the incident to CAL POLY POMONA Police Parking Services at 9-1-1 or 909-869-3070.
